Andros - Island of contrasts

 

Andros Island is the northernmost and second largest island of the Cyclades after Naxos. It is one of the great tourist destinations of Greece.

 

 

Home of many ship owning families and also of great patrons of art and litterature, Andros is culturally rich and has many archaeological sites dating back to the Mycunean era. It constitutes an important civilisation berth.

 

 

 

 

 

Two modern art museums with permanent and yearly hosted major exhibits, an archaeological museum and other institutions located in the capital town of Chora it attracts thousands of visitors yearly.

 

 

Cycladic architecture, neoclassical buildings and elegant family manors contrasting beautifully with the Islands natural environment compose Andros' picturesque portrait.

Dozens of natural beaches and crystal waters, imposing mountainous terrain, deep gorges and valleys and rich flora compose a truly remarquable setting.

 

 

 

 

Batsi is the main tourist attraction due to its beauty and nightlife. Andros also has many churches and monasteries dating back to the 11th century making it cosmopolitan as well as calm and detached.
